Mystery Shop - There are many scams out there. There are also sites that require a fee for membership so that you can access their database. My theory is why pay for what you can get for free?!

The best place that I have found for a very large FREE listing of companies is Volition.com. This site has been around for quite some time. I used to have a listing there way back when I ran my free stuff site. He runs an awesome site and it's updated frequently!

Two companies that I recommend are:

Service Intelligence - They like their shoppers to be pretty active. They offer online training modules. Payment is via direct deposit.

Check Mark - Like Service Intelligence you can view the available jobs for your area. Each job comes with a set of instructions regarding how the shop should be performed. Payment is sent via check.

Both companies are excellent. I am unsure about which areas they cover so, if you do not see it on their website just fill out an application and be patient.

Personally, I think mystery shopping is great! It's very flexible. The pay per job is usually not very high. However, if you are willing to travel or live in or near a large city you could stay fairly busy. I did this part-time and enjoyed it.

Also, some companies that offer mystery shopping also offer other types of jobs like doing Demos of products and Merchandising.

One company that offers several different types of jobs besides Mystery Shopping is The Field Force. Again, I have done work for this company and I highly recommend them. Since I shopped banks with them, the pay was higher. The merchandising that I did also payed well.
